David Parker, a Director in the Competition Practice of Frontier (Europe), will speak next week on a panel discussion about the implications of the new Hong Kong Competition Ordinance, which is due to come in to effect in December 2015. The Competition Ordinance will, for the first time, ensure that the entirety of the Hong Kong economy will be covered by the standard principles of competition law – which prohibits cartel activity and anti-competitive agreements, and abuses of a position of significant market power. Previously only the telecommunication and broadcasting sectors had been subject to competition law.
The Panel is jointly organised by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. The other members of the panel are Dr. Stanley Wong, CEO of the Hong Kong Competition Commission, and Dr. Frank Montag, a senior competition partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
Frontier (Europe) regularly advises private sector clients and regulators on issues relating to competition policy across Europe.
