Spanish courts dismiss Unipost’s €300 million claim against Correos

The Spanish courts have dismissed a €300 million claim filed by Unipost against Correos, Spain’s national postal service, over alleged predatory pricing practices. Unipost, once Spain's largest private postal operator, claimed Correos used unfair pricing strategies in its mail services for business customers, which allegedly forced Unipost out of the market.

Correos successfully defended the case with the help of an expert report prepared by José María Rodríguez and Juana Santamaría from Frontier Economics. The report assessed the economic and competition aspects of the case and disputed the damage estimates provided by Unipost’s expert. The court ultimately sided with Correos, rejecting Unipost’s claims of anti-competitive behaviour.
