The UK Competition and Markets Authority (‘CMA’) has today cleared the proposed acquisition by OSRAM Licht Group of RGI Light (Holdings) Limited and Ring Automotive Limited after a Phase 1 investigation.
OSRAM Licht Group is a German headquartered international group, that specialises in the supply and manufacturing of lighting solutions across Europe. The group supplies products to the UK market through its UK-based subsidiary, OSRAM Limited. Ring is a UK-based supplier of a broad range of products for the UK automotive aftermarket, including light bulbs. Both companies’ customers include large buying groups, independent wholesalers, large retailers and e-commerce suppliers
The CMA’s investigation considered potential competition concerns arising from the fact that both Parties are active in the supply of lighting products to the automotive industry in the UK aftermarket.
However, the Parties successfully argued that the deal would not lead to a substantial lessening of competition in the UK automotive aftermarket, and hence would not detrimentally affect consumers.
Frontier regularly advises companies on competition issues relating to mergers and acquisitions reviewed by the CMA and other national and European competition authorities.
