Hayley works across a broad range of sectors, assisting clients with various strategic, policy and anti-trust issues.
Hayley has gained significant experience working on large high profile merger cases, engaging with both the Competition Markets Authority (CMA) and the European Commission (EC). She particularly enjoys using novel data science techniques to assess local market overlaps, and applied these in her work on the successful clearance of Tesco’s merger with Booker and also in assessing the proposed merger between Sainsbury’s and Asda. Hayley has also helped to provide expert advice to Tesco on an ongoing basis over the five years she has worked at Frontier, in issues ranging from strategic priorities to anti-trust issues. Hayley has a particular interest in the Retail area, and has enjoyed working for both general retailers and restaurant companies on a broad spectrum of issues. More recently, Hayley has also widened her experience to include supporting high street banks on both regulatory and strategic concerns.
In her time at Frontier, Hayley has also worked on complex policy issues. For example, she utilised her critical thinking skills to assess how the Value for Money of Higher Education (HE) in the UK could be measured. More recently Hayley has widened her experience in the Climate Change policy area, playing a leading role on a large 12 month project on the economics of adaptation, working on cost-benefit case studies across a broad range of areas for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). This is an area Hayley continues to work in, with recent work relating to Electric Vehicles (EVs) enhancing her experience of evaluation techniques.
She completed both of her economics degrees in London, the plethora of good vegetarian restaurants were too difficult to leave behind. She holds a Bsc from the London School of Economics, and a Msc (Distinction) from Birkbeck College, University of London and is currently learning Spanish in her spare time as an extra challenge!
