Cardiovascular disease (CVD) continues to place a large burden on individuals, the NHS and the local economy of Manchester. To support local action, Health Innovation Manchester (HIM) commissioned Frontier Economics to quantify the economic and social costs of CVD across Greater Manchester – and to identify where the biggest opportunities for prevention lie.
This article considers what lessons can be learnt from the telecoms sector. The main insight is that well-intended ex ante regulatory intervention risks deterring innovation which can be an important feature in digital markets.
